The Wishing Well Mildred A Wirt 9781518751639 Books Reviews
The book is full of adventure . Keep you on your feet. Anyone who likes mystery will love the book. I give it 5 stars
I love this book with all my heart. until two weeks ago I had never heard of this series but now I cant put the books down. I would recomend this to everyone I know. Mildred A (AKA Carolen Keen. author of Nancy Drew) realy made this book somthing
The eighth entry in the Penny Parker series, The Wishing Well, was engrossing enough that I read the entire thing in one sitting!
Penny Parker and her best friend Louise Sidell befriend an impoverished orphan named Rhoda Wiegand. Curiously, two Texans turn up out of the blue and attempt to adopt Rhoda and her brother Ted; however, both Rhoda and Penny suspect that the would-be adoptive Texan, Mr. Coaten, isn’t as kindly or altruistic as he wants to seem.
A second mystery centers on a Mrs. James Marborough, newly returned to Rose Acres, the rundown family estate. Why has she returned after 10 or 12 years? And why is Mrs. Marborough so secretive? And who has been prowling around Rose Acres at night?
Fans who loved Nancy Drew in their girlhood won’t be sorry to discover Penny Parker as adults.
I absolutely loved this book & I didn't even solve the mysteries in this story right away. This book is part of the Penny Parker mystery series written by the original author of the Nancy Drew books under her own name Mildred Wirt. I love all her Penny Parker mysteries. Here's a short synopsis just to give you an idea of what this book is about. One evening Penny & her friend Louise were out sailing on the river when they got near the old mansion that no one had been living in for a long time and all of a sudden they spotted a light on the grounds. They immediately decided to investigate & brought the boat ashore. They crept up the hill to the old mansion & saw a mysterious figure looking for something at the old wishing well with a lantern. Since it was getting late they had to leave but both agreed to come back to investigate further the mystery of the old well. That's when the adventure really starts. This is a great mystery & kids & people of all ages will like it. You won't be disappointed in this great story that actually has two mysteries the girls must solve. If you like Nancy Drew you will love these books. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy them either. Adults will certainly enjoy it. If you like wholesome mysteries that are hard to find today you will like these books. This is one of my favorites & I'm no kid! They are all public domain & free on so enjoy.
